The idea behind CasaSwap originated in the winter 2002/2003. Two of the four Danish student founders unfortunately had to give up going abroad to study, simply due to the lack of a residence at the destination! This negative experience initiated the idea behind the CasaSwap network and the website launched on 1 January 2004.
CasaSwap is primarily intended for young people, students and academics (teachers & educating staff, PhD students, internships & traineeships, etc.) from all over the world. However, anyone is very welcome to join this international housing and travel network, for instance: private landlords, organizations or institutions offering excess accommodation, tourists or back-packers looking for cheap accommodation opportunities, or simply interested in a weekend stay somewhere.
